ITAL 111 ITALIAN ELEMENTS FOR MUSIC (3)
Elementary principles of Italian grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, conversation, writing, reading, and culture studied through music composition, lyrics writing, lyrics analysis, and history of the Italian language and its relevance for music. Satisfies the prerequisite for ITAL 102. Students who have successfully completed ITAL 101 will not receive additional credit for ITAL 111. Core: Arts & Humanities. Prerequisites: MUSC 105 or MUSC 116, or current music major or minor, or consent of instructor.

ITAL 311 ITALIAN CULTURE AND CIVILIZATION (3)
A comprehensive survey of geography, history, art, music, literature, and cinema of the Italian peninsula, from the Etruscans (ca. 900 BC) to the present. Conducted in Italian. Prerequisite: ITAL 202 or equivalent.

ITAL 497 INTERNSHIP IN ITALIAN (3)
Training and experience using Italian with government, business, and industry in Maryland or Washington, D.C., under professional supervision. Prerequisites: 6 credits of Italian at the 300 level and written consent of the program coordinator; Italian minors only.
