The Center for Professional Practice (CPP) is a resource and service office located in the College of Education. CPP works closely with TU educator preparation programs and local school districts to support school partnerships and practicum placements.

Teacher candidates will have a range of high-quality clinical experiences designed to develop their knowledge, skills, and dispositions. Thus, teacher candidates are assigned placements by their program and/or CPP. These requirements and the size and scope of our education program do not always permit personal preference or geographic convenience in placements.

District Requirements

CPP also manages district requirements for practicum placements in various TU internship courses. The district requirements for fingerprinting and background checks vary greatly by district. It is the responsibility of the intern to communicate with their program and/or supervisor to ensure they meet all necessary requirements for their district and level of participation.

Teacher candidates are also responsible for any costs related to fingerprinting and background check requirements of the district(s) in which they are placed. If interns are placed in multiple districts, they will be responsible for the cost of fingerprinting in each district. CPP tries to place candidates in the same district, but it may not be possible due to mentor availability.
